Szczyrk is a popular winter sports centre, with over 60 km of ski routes served by 30 ski lifts. The principal training centre for Poland's Winter Olympic athletes is based in the town, where they train for events such as skiing, ski jumping and ice skating. The ski jumping in the Youth WInter Olympics 2009 took place in Szczyrk. Peter Prevc won before Vladimir Zografski and Adrian Schuler.
Szczyrk Czyrna-Solisko is one of the biggest ski complexes in Poland composed of two main stations: Czyrna (Małe Skrzyczne 1211 m above sea level) and Solisko (Pośredni 990 m above sea level.) It combines 13 drag lifts of 7800 m in total. Ski routes of 22 km in total are perfectly adjusted to average skills of skiers. Two routes, black "Bieńkula” (No. 5) and red "Golgota” (No. 11) have got FIS certificates allowing for the organisation of sports competitions. Downhill routes are maintained with modern snow compression equipment and most of them is artificially snowed. One of the routes is lighted and may be used at night.
In the area of Czyrna Solisko, there are many restaurants, GOPR stations, ski and snowboard schools, ski equipment rental and maintenance companies, snowpark and ski kindergarten.
