May 29 began 56 Krakow Film Festival


Gala in Kijów.Centrum cinema and projection of the documentary "21 x New York" began on Sunday evening in a crowded hall 56.

Krakow Film Festival. At the official opening, led by Krzysztof Gierat, director of the Festival was attended by Magdalena Sroka, Director of the Polish Film Institute, Deputy Mayor of Krakow, Andrzej Kulig and representatives of the world of film from around the world.

"Being from Krakow, in a natural way, I think that the Krakow Film Festival is the most important in the world" - said Director Magdalena Sroka to start the ceremony. President Andrzej Kulig stressed however "that feature of the Festival, which is worth noting is continuous creativity."

Of the more than 3500 production reported from the farthest corners of the globe, in the framework of the festival will be presented over 250 titles in four competitions, 12 sections associated, and many special events. The competing films will be judged by an international Jury, which at full strength were in place for the ceremony.

Projection of documentary "21 x New York," which at the gala opening of the Festival had its world premiere, preceded by a meeting of its creators. Piotr Stasik, director in the company of almost the entire film crew, spoke with unusual motifs creation of the film and the process of its creation. The film is an intimate essay about the loneliness accompanying the man who lived in Western society in the XXI century, the jury will evaluate the two festival competitions: Polish and international documentary competition. Krakow audience will have a chance to re-watch the movie on June 2 hrs. 15.00 at Kino Mikro.

Krakow Film Festival will visit this year more than 850 Polish and international guests: directors, producers, representatives of festivals and more than 25,000 spectators.

56 Krakow Film Festival will be held from 29 May to 5 June 2016.
