International Festival - Summer Organ Concerts


International Festival "Summer Organ Concerts" is organized in cooperation with the Krakow Academy of Music and with the participation of the City of Krakow. Artistic Director of the Festival is prof. Krakow Academy of Music, Mirosław Semeniuk-Podraza.

The festival has a long history and loyal audience that continues to expand. This year, it will have its XXI edition. In the early years, the festival focused organists from Polish, but over the years he gained international rank. Festival guests were musicians from Polish, Europe, Japan, USA and South Africa. Every year they toured in Krakow professors, university rectors music. The festival also has the task of promoting talented artists organists of the younger generation. They represent an excellent workshop interpretive organ works from the classical to the contemporary. They reach for the works of such masters as m.in .: J. S. Bach, F. Mendelssohn, C. Franc, M. Dupré, C. Piutti, G. H. Handel, J. Brahms, R. Schumann, F. Liszt.

The biggest advantage of the festival is to popularize the art of organ, reaching the historic Polish instruments and create opportunities to listen to music in the most beautiful interiors of historic Krakow's churches. In this way, the aesthetic value of music combine harmoniously in one piece of architecture, sculpture and painting. This special atmosphere also appreciate the artists themselves, for whom the fact of touring, eg. Against the work of Veit Stoss is something special.

Concerts are held on Thursday evenings in July and August in the most beautiful Krakow's churches - St. Mary's Basilica, the Basilica of OO. Carmelites 'On The Sand', the Basilica of OO. Pauline "The Rock" and the Church of St. Cross.
