Fan Zone Krakow - the public match viewing zone
During the European Football Championship UEFA EURO 2012 a public match viewing zone, called Fun Kraków , will be set up for fans and tourists in Kraków. It will be located in the very heart of the city, between two modern football stadiums of the local teams Wisła Kraków and Cracovia (which are the training centres for the national teams of Italy and the Netherlands), in the Błonia Park. The zone can accommodate as many as 30 thousand football fans and tourists from all over the world!
The zone in Kraków will primarily be the place where all matches of the Championship can be watched on a large screen with the surface of 140 square metres, with excellent voice quality and specially designed lighting. The most eager football fans will have an opportunity to follow matches from a VIP stand.
Additionally, there will be a great variety of all kinds of attractions. The guests of Fun Kraków will also be provided with a broad gastronomic and cultural offering. The culinary zone will refer to the regional cuisines of the national teams that have their Base Camps in Kraków; there will also be an entertainment zone and an ecological zone as a reminder of the social responsibility and care for the natural environment. The motto of the Kraków zone is “multi-culti” and therefore the attractions organized in the zone will be related to the team’s countries of origin staying in Kraków: Italy, England and the Netherlands. The Kraków zone will also contain a football field where amateurs and professionals can play their games and win trophies.
The Fun Kraków zone will be open throughout the Championship – from 8 June to 1 July – also on non-match days. On those days, partners to the event will offer fans various forms of attractive past times – numerous contests with prizes, record breaking in playing bum-bum pipes or details of the offer of Little Poland as on the of the most attractive regions in our country for tourists.
The Błonia Park where the Fun Kraków zone will be located is at al. Focha and 3 Maja that connect to al. Mickiewicza, one of the main thoroughfares of Kraków. You will need 15 minutes to walk from the Main Market Square in the very heart of the city to the Błonia Park. Easy and fast access is also provided by the public transport.
The organizers invite everyone – men, women, teenagers and children – as well as entire families, so that Euro 2012 can become a holiday for all residents and guests in the city. Besides sporting attractions and thrills, the zone will also offer projects related to the life of the city, focusing on the environment, culture and social aspects.
The safety and security of the participants will be ensured by the police, experienced security teams and voluntary patrols.
Krakow, after in-depth analysis of many possible options for organizing the fan zone, joined the EURO TRUCK Project under the patronage of Telewizja Polska – one of the largest nationwide media campaigns showcasing Euro 2012 fan support initiatives in 100 Polish cities. As a result, Krakow has guaranteed time on-air and will be visible on all channels of Polish TV, not only throughout the Championship, but also at the preparatory stages.
